The fostering assessment process can feel daunting if you don't know what to expect. This guide walks you through every stage — so you can approach it with confidence.
You contact an agency or local authority. They'll ask basic eligibility questions and invite you to an information event or initial home visit.

FosterReady is not a fostering agency. We're an independent platform built to help solve the UK's fostering crisis — with over 83,000 children in care and not enough foster families to support them.
Our training, guides, and tools are completely free and always will be. Whether you're seriously considering fostering or just curious about what's involved, you can explore everything at your own pace — no sign-up required, no sales calls, no pressure.
If you decide it's right for you, we can help connect you with Ofsted-registered agencies in your area. But that's your decision, on your timeline.
