How does the Free Account vs Agency Subscription model work?
Opening an agency account on FosterReady is 100% free with £0 setup fee and no credit card required to register. A free account allows your agency to set up your portal profile, explore the dashboard, and review platform features. When your agency is ready to access pre-screened foster carer leads in your region and manage candidate pipelines with automated pre-panel TSD tracking, you select an active agency subscription plan.
Can agencies use FosterReady for their own recruitment leads?
Yes. Agencies use an active FosterReady subscription to route their own marketing leads into the platform. FosterReady automates initial eligibility pre-screening, DBS readiness checks, and TSD Level-3 pre-panel learning modules—saving your social workers time and improving candidate retention.
How do DfE Fostering Recruitment & Retention Consortia Grants support agencies?
The Department for Education (DfE) allocates regional recruitment and retention consortia funding to help local authorities and partner IFAs modernise pre-screening, candidate matching, and carer preparation. Agencies can deploy these statutory grant allocations towards recruitment technology and candidate assessment platforms.
Can IFAs fund FosterFlow.uk under the Mockingbird Family Model expansion?
Yes. FosterFlow.uk features dedicated constellation tracking, AI daily logbook parsing, and respite night logging tailored for Mockingbird Family Model constellations, making it eligible under Mockingbird expansion grants and Social Care Innovation Funds.
Is FosterCore.uk eligible for Regional Care Cooperative (RCC) transition funding?
Yes. FosterCore.uk provides HL7 FHIR API interoperability, Ofsted NMS compliance reporting, and National Placement Grid sync, aligning directly with RCC transition grants and local government social care digital transformation budgets.
How does HMRC Qualifying Care Relief (QCR) work for foster carers?
Under HMRC BAM74000 (ITTOIA 2005 s803-828), foster carers receive a fixed tax-free exemption of £18,140 per household per tax year, plus additional weekly tax relief of £375/week for each child under 11, and £450/week for each child aged 11 and older. Over 99% of foster carers pay £0 Income Tax and £0 National Insurance on fostering income below their threshold.
What is the DfE National Minimum Fostering Allowance?
The Department for Education (DfE) sets mandatory national minimum weekly allowances for foster carers in England, adjusted annually for age (0-4, 5-10, 11-15, 16-17) and region (London, South East, Rest of England). This allowance covers living costs (food, clothing, activities, pocket money, travel). Most LAs and IFAs pay an additional Skill/Reward Fee on top.
Does receiving a fostering allowance affect Universal Credit or Housing Benefit?
No. Fostering allowances are treated as non-taxable maintenance payments and are completely ignored as unearned income for Universal Credit, Income Support, and Housing Benefit. Approved foster carers are also entitled to 1 extra bedroom allowance under Universal Credit Housing Element.
