Parent & Child placements command the highest weekly allowances in the UK (£800–£1,500/week) due to the specialist assessment and mentoring required.
Parent and Child fostering (often called Mother and Baby fostering) involves hosting a young parent alongside their infant in your home for a time-limited period (typically 12 to 24 weeks). Your role is to mentor, observe, and guide the parent in developing safe parenting skills while social services assess whether the parent can care for the child independently.
- Guide the parent on feeding, soothing, hygiene, and infant safety. - Keep detailed daily recording notes on parenting capacity, bonding, and progress. - Provide a safe, non-judgmental family environment for both parent and child. - Attend multi-agency review meetings and courts if required.
Because you are supporting two individuals and completing structured assessment recordings, allowances are significantly higher than standard fostering, ranging from £800 to £1,500 per week.
